Cloud Nine or Ten
Dyan - I've just read the post on the other forum - so you did a lot of flying in S. Wales then? You might know a few friends, one who's still in Swansea area called Rob Willams and there's also my great friend Dave Wardsmith who has finally ended up in New Zealand (quite a long flight).
Good to know that - you become more interesting every time you tell us a bit about yourself.
All I can do myself these days is stand on top of the cliffs with the gulls swooping by and try to imagine I'm flying as well. It helps with a wee bit of SweetToof!
Take care mate.

RE: Cloud Nine or Ten
Hi Davey
Sorry - missed this post.
The name Rob Williams rings a bell, but there are a lot of those in South Wales!
I actually used to fly from Cardiff International at the Cardiff Wales Flying Club - sadly, I understand that they ceased trading in 2004 which is a shame.
Though I did do my first solo, with my then girlfriend (now wife) as a short hop across to Swansea - a quick cuppa and a toastie and then back we came.
A memorable first solo: as I was approaching Cardiff airspace, (Class A which is strictly controlled as it's an international airport) I heard a mayday call - which meant that I had to keep radio silence and as I wasn't cleared to enter the airspace, I had to circle just over Ogmore!
Then came the call from the air traffic controller asking me if I would be kind enough to see if I could locate the downed aircraft.
My passenger next to me was having kittens as I was flying around looking in fields, bushes & trees for something that could have been quite nasty (didn't know if it was a small plane or a jet at this stage).
I eventually saw a helicopter that had made a perfect crash landing - reported back and they asked me to make radio contact with him - which I duly did.
Turned out he was a police helicopter!
